Poems from The Barrio

Poems from The Barrio

Growing up in the barrio is not easy. There are many challenges - economic, social, and personal. Growing up in the streets is sometimes rugged, raw, dangerous. Many learn the ways of survival not taught in books. Poems from The Barrio, hosted by Donato Martinez, will highlight poetry about our homes, our street, our environment. There are poets that rise from the dirt and the rubble and the mess to tell us about the magnificent stories about beauty and childhood dreams. We invite anyone to share stories about growing up, about their adolescence, about their homes, about their neighborhood.

This program is in partnership with Poets & Writers.

Where: The Cormack Room

When: Saturday, May 4th, 3-5pm
