Program Spotlight
Chess Club for Kids
Downey Chess Club instructors will be teaching chess in the Cormack Room, Mondays 6:15-7:30pm once a month. In addition to being a fun game, chess teaches students to become leaders by improving concentration, good sportsmanship, critical & abstract thinking, problem solving, planning, and analysis.
No registration required but come early because seats are limited

Grades: K-6th
Game Night
Come hang out, play your favorite games, and make new friends. We’ll have classic and new games like Monopoly, Uno, Aggravation, plus puzzles & more for all ages.
Children’s Area: Fun for all ages with board games, card games, puzzles & more! ✨🎲

Cover to Cover
The Cover to Cover Reading Challenge from In-N-Out is back! Children ages 4–12 are invited to participate (parents and guardians may read to younger children).
To join, just ask a librarian about the program and fill out a file card to get started. Each child will receive a reading log to track their books or minutes read. After finishing five books or 300 minutes, participants can earn a Cover to Cover Achievement Award Card, good for a free hamburger or cheeseburger at In-N-Out! Kids can earn up to three award cards during the program. Be sure to have a parent or guardian with you when redeeming your prize.
