| Volunteer Opportunities |
| |
| Volunteers... The Special Difference |
| |
| Here at the Downey City Library, our volunteers are
the special difference - the helping hand, the attentive ear, the creative
energy. They are essential to the successful daily operations of our library.
You can be part of that special difference by giving your time and talent.
Some things still cannot be computerized - nor should they be. People helping
people is the way of the library volunteer. No one can do the job quite
like a volunteer. |
| |
| You Will Make a Difference |
| |
| We are looking for people who want to make a worthwhile
contribution to their library and to their community. We are looking for
people who are cheerful, dependable, and above all, people who enjoy working
with people. You will be given training.
We will offer you work that fits your time, talents, and abilities plus
the opportunity for personal growth by learning and using new skills. You
will receive the satisfaction that comes from giving to the community and
to your library. |
| |
| How You Can Make a Difference |
| |
Some of the tasks we need help with are:
- processing new books
- reading to children
- helping with children's programs
- mending books
- creating displays
- preparing materials for library programs
- processing paperbacks
- straightening bookshelves
- typing or using a computer to complete a project
- cleaning terminals
- tutoring in the Adult Literacy Program 562.904.7360 x123
- working in the Friends Store 562.904.7360 x 130
What are you waiting for? Become a member of our volunteer staff today.
Call the Circulation Office at (562) 904-7360 x130 or come in and see
us. There's a lot happening at the Downey City Library and we'd like
you to be a part of it. Together we can make that special difference.
